The Medusa Tree

kai06

A very old River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) in Pewsey Vale Forest, near Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park, Flaxman Valley, South Australia.   This ‘great-grandfather’ tree is in its last days.   It is now surrounded by pine forest, and because of its irregular shape, was probably spared by the settlers and loggers 150 years ago.
