Kardinia Park, Simonds Stadium, Moorabool Street, South Geelong, Victoria – at dawn. “The Cattery” has been redeveloped at a cost of $30m, to now seat over 33,000 footy fans. Four impressive, 73 metre-high, light towers dominate the Geelong skyline. This has all been possible by funding from the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments. The Cattery has been a priority over school, health, police, and other public spending needs. And rightly so – it is the focus, heart and soul of the region! But perhaps the superb light towers are superfluous (as cat-supporters have light endlessly flowing from their fundamental orifices’)!
